Idea Hopping: The Silent Business Killer
Hello everyone, it's Victoria here and welcome back to another episode of A Business Built With Strategy. So this week we are talking about the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make and how to actually avoid these mistakes. So I keep seeing the same mistakes. They keep popping up all the time and they really are slowing people down. So let's break them all down and let's fix them. So mistake, one idea hopping.
Speaker 1:Now I would say we've probably all seen this and also some of us probably know that that's what we're doing as well. We keep changing offers, ideas, and we're doing it too soon, and this happens when there's no plan, there's no strategy in place, and it leads to like a million offers but no traction. The idea is that you have one clear offer and one clear strategy. That's the fix on mistake one One clear offer and one clear strategy. And the reason that people change ideas I should say such a lot is because they'll put their offer out there and within I don't know two hours they're like oh well, you know, no one's biting, so I'm going to change it. And there's certain people that I've seen on socials. Literally by the end of the month they've had 25 offers out there and because none of them are working because they haven't given them a chance. And then they begin to think, oh, you know what have I done wrong? And really they haven't done anything wrong, they've just not given their offers a chance. So remember one clear offer, one clear strategy, and it's simple. It really is if you stick to it.
Speaker 1:Mistake two no plan, no strategy. Starting out with excitement but no roadmap is a recipe for disaster. You don't know your ideal client offer, pain point, anything, everything that is supposed to be on that strategy. You don't know. Or maybe you do know it, but you just have not put it down onto paper. And this leads to wasted effort. It's a waste of time.
Speaker 1:The fix for this was simple A plan strategy, client offer. A plan strategy, client offer, problem solution. That is your fix. It's very, very simple if you stick to it, like anything really, isn't it. So mistake three chasing quick fixes. We've all done it. I definitely have oh, that'll work. Or or you know you do, because I think it's a. It's actually a very natural way to think oh, I'll fix it this way, that'll do, instead of actually going the longer route and going. You know what? I need a plan here because this, this isn't going to work. It's like making a cake and cutting out half the ingredients. You're probably going to get not the greatest of cakes. You're really not Make 10k in six weeks.
Speaker 1:Promises that are everywhere. This is a quick fix. Everyone looks the same online. I've got to be honest, I'm sick of going online and seeing everyone as a carbon copy. I really am. Everyone looks the same, everyone's promising the same. Not many people online at the moment are actually offering something different. There are not many people. What are standing out? I can probably name maybe five people that really stand out who are really different and they're successful because they are different and they have got a strategy.
Speaker 1:Real growth is not in gimmicks. I mean, it really isn't. The fix to this is consistency. Beats shortcuts. You will be promised by so many people at the moment oh yeah, if you do this, you do that. No, it just doesn't work.
Speaker 1:Consistency does Mistake four quitting too soon. Mistake four quitting too soon. The thing is people get discouraged and they give up. So you've got to strip it back. What is the idea, what's been done and what is next? Often, confidence competence is the block. You have to really think about that. Often confidence, not competence, is the block and the fix to this. Rebuild your confidence and keep moving. It's so important you need to. You need to do that if you feel it's taken a knock, because what happens? You quit and really you just haven't given the thing a chance. So, recapping on everything I've said Idea hopping, no plan, quick fixes, quitting the golden rule is consistency, strategy plus confidence. Keeps you moving.
Speaker 1:Now I will have a free roadmap for you. In the not too distant future I will post the link onto my socials, onto my stories, and in the next couple of weeks it will be posted onto the show notes as well. So go and check that out. That is the four steps to a foundation business plan that you can actually follow. It's not a full business plan, but what it does is it gets you started. Okay, I hope you've enjoyed today's ep A little bit shorter and I'm really looking forward to coming back next Monday, because I have something really, really juicy to talk about. Take care everyone, and I will see you then. Have a great week.
