Starting Strong: Why Done Beats Perfect In 2026
The calendar flipped, the pressure spiked, and the myth of perfect plans started shouting again. So we sat down on New Year’s night to tell the truth about momentum, grief, messy starts, and why shipping imperfect work beats waiting for a flawless life to show up. After a brutal 2025 that took a lot and taught even more, we’re back with a simple promise: protect the work that moves the needle and let everything else take a number.
We unpack how “done is better than perfect” becomes more than a slogan when you’re tired, behind, or overwhelmed. You’ll hear how month‑by‑month planning can outrun six‑month fantasies, why to‑do lists quietly turn into traps, and how a single protected block each day can rebuild momentum fast. We get specific about time blocking, defining one daily outcome, and focusing on small, repeatable actions that actually drive revenue: publishing clear offers, starting honest conversations, following up, and iterating in public. No hacks, no gloss, just a practical rhythm you can adopt today.
There’s more in the pipeline. We preview new guests who will bring fresh angles on building a business without burning out, and we invite you to explore our sister show, A Woman’s Power Unfiltered, which amplifies voices across ages and stages. The theme is consistent: simple systems, real stories, and progress that compounds. If you’ve been waiting for permission to start before you feel ready, consider this your green light.
If this resonates, follow the show, share it with someone who needs momentum more than motivation, and leave a quick review. Your support helps more builders find practical tools and a kinder way to grow this year.
Hey everyone, it's Victoria here. Happy New Year! Happy 2026. It is the evening of New Year's Day. I'm at home on my own. Well, I've got Mr. Darcy the dog here with me. But apart from that, I'm I'm all on my own. So I thought, okay, I need to batch record some apps. So that is what I am doing this evening. So first of all, I just want to say happy new year, and I hope for each and every one of you that 2026 is just everything that you wish it to be. Very simple, very plain. Just go out there and smash it. Okay, so a little bit of a shorter ep, it's a bit more of an update, really, and then we kick off with our normal Monday apps from Monday the 5th, which I am really, really excited for. So we have lots of different topics coming this year, and I am looking to have guests on this year as well. This is something that I am really really excited about. So I have had a lot of messages and a lot of emails um asking, where are you? An app hasn't been dropping for a very long time. Um, are you okay? And oh, do you know what? I'd I'd really like to say, you know what? I batch recorded them. I took a break and I batch recorded everything so you didn't miss out, but unfortunately, that just was not meant to be, and I didn't. And with everything that happened in my personal life in 2025, I I just wasn't in the position to batch record. Now, that is something that I'm definitely gonna do this year, but last year it just wasn't meant to be. But what I will say is I started this podcast and my other podcast, which is a woman's power unfiltered, and I started these two podcasts last year in the middle of I don't I don't even know how to put it really, not the best situation. Well, actually, it was absolutely it was the worst year of my life. I mean, yeah, it was the worst year of my life losing my dad, and you know, I had all this responsibility, and I didn't know whether I was coming or going, I was burnt out, but I still started two podcasts, and and there really is a moral to that. Everything doesn't need to be perfect. You hear so much of it online. Gotta get my ducks in a row, this has got to be done, that's gotta be done, everything's got to be perfect, but in all honesty, it's a load of rubbish, it really is, and I know that there are gonna be people listening to this now going, Well, yeah, I know, but before I do this, or before I relaunch, or before I launch, or or before I execute my idea, or before I write my strategy, or before I do this, it's that's got to be done, and that's got to be perfect. And no, absolutely not. If you wait for perfect, you're going to be sitting here this time next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, until you get to a point and go, Oh, oh, I never did it. I ne I never did it. So don't think that things have to be perfect because they don't done done is better than perfect. I I can't stress to you enough. So this year we have got some really good topics coming up, things that are gonna help you in your business, but are also gonna move the needle. Who has a to-do list? And that to-do list seems to get longer and longer and longer. Now, I'm a lists person, I I gotta be honest, I write a list to tell me to write a list, but what I have realized is I that's how I work, I work by lists, but it can also work against you as well. Because what happens is you become a slave to your to-do list. So I'm gonna be talking about this next week, how I get organized. Now, today being New Year's Day, I planned my whole January. Did I plan uh February, March, and April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December? No. Are there are there people out there who do that? Yes, and and that is okay, because for them that might work for me at the moment, I can only work month by month. Now, will that change in February? Yes, it will. So I will actually be able to plan a lot more further. Can you see what I'm trying to say to you? Everyone is different. So when you're seeing you know different people online saying, Oh, I've you know, I've planned my six months, that can be quite triggering sometimes because you're like, Well, well, hang on a minute, I've not even planned the first week. So you have to realize that everyone is different. I sat today, as I say, I planned everything for my first month, and also I time blocked, and this is something that I'm going to talk to you about. What I do see a lot of out there. Well, actually, actually, I've kind of said that wrong. What I don't see a lot of, actually, I don't see a lot of this, is the things that the little things that really really help, and they move the needle in your business, and they're small, but actually they move the needle so that you can bring your the money that you want in, okay? Because that's that's the whole point, isn't it? You know, we're not in business to do to-do lists, we're not in business to you know write our business strategy a million times. Um, so there's definitely a pattern. I have some amazing guests coming on as well, so that's really exciting. I'd also like to mention my other podcast while I'm on here, which is a woman's power unfiltered. It's for any woman, any age, anyone. So if if you if you like the the sound of that, pop on over and I'll stick the link in the show notes. And we have our first guest on there. I would say I think it's in the next month. I haven't got the actual date yet, but we are recording very soon, and I cannot wait for this guest. She is 20 years old, she she's amazing, she really, really is, and it's gonna bring a whole fresh new look to that podcast because a lot of people think it's you know 40 plus, but it actually isn't, it's for any woman, so I'm really looking forward to having her on, and I'll be announcing that very, very soon. Okay, uh, take care everyone. I will be back on Monday with an app for a business built strategy, and there'll be an ep coming out for a woman's power unfiltered as well. Happy New Year! Take everything in your stride. That's probably one of my mantras this year. Take it in your stride because you get a lot further. And remember, done is better than perfect.
